“You cannot criticize your officials or the candidates in the party. You must support them with a smile on your face, and if they are the lesser of two evils go with them…you need to smile and go along in order for us to get back on track…”
These are the words of Oklahoma Republican Party Chair Dave Weston spoken recently at the Wagoner County GOP monthly meeting.
So basically what you are saying Dave is that even if the person your party has nominated for an office is a complete sleazebag that doesn’t follow your own party’s platform, your party’s members are required to support them? Is that what you’re saying?
Mr. Weston, you are just as bad as the slimebag elected officials that you represent like Mary Fallin, James Lankford, Tom Cole, and Frank Lucas.
And here’s another Weston quote for you:
“There are a lot of people pushing the wrong kind of liberty in our state. Liberty is not doing what you want. It is doing what you should…True freedom is doing what you ought to do. False freedom is doing what you want to do.”
What the hell is that supposed to mean?!? Has this guy ever picked up a flipping dictionary? I have. Let’s just take a look at the definition of liberty, shall we?
Liberty: The quality or state of being free. The power to do as one pleases.
Hmmm…..freedom, let’s take a look at that too.
Freedom: The quality or state of being free. The absences of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action.
Anybody confused here? I’m not. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. And forgive me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the Republican Party started as a way to stand up for freedom and individual rights? I don’t see anything that espouses individual rights in Dave Weston’s words. And this is the guy that represents the Oklahoma Republican Party to the whole world!!!
Other “money” quotes from Mr. Weston from this same event were:
“saving the party was top priority…”
it is “not our job to hold them accountable…” (he is referring to those in party leadership)
With this guy in charge of things I think the Republican Party in Oklahoma, quite frankly, is in big, big trouble.
On another note…is it just me or does anybody else think Dave Weston would make a great Lex Luthor?
