Who Benefits?

Who stands to benefit from an attack on Syria?

Well, let’s look at the members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee who voted YES for Syrian attacks and what they have in common:

John McCain, Dick Durbin, Timothy Kane, Bob Corker, Barbara Boxer, Ben Cardin, Chris Coons, Jeff Flake, Bob Menendez, and Jeanne Shaheen.

Is political party common among them. Not really. 3 Republicans. 7 Democrats.

So what do they all have in common? They all receive substantial amounts of campaign contributions from the Defense Industry. Companies such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, United Technologies, and Honeywell all contribute to these Senator’s campaigns. John McCain, the senior Senator from Arizona and former Republican Presidential candidate for instance, received over $175,000 from the defense industry between 2007 and 2012. Dick Durbin, the Democratic Senator from Illinois received over $120,000 in campaign contributions from the defense industry over the same time period.

Who stands to benefit from an attack on Syria.

Not you. Not me. Not the American people. And certainly not the people of Syria.
