Distractions

The federal government is very good at distracting people. They do this so that they can exert more control over those people.

Edward Snowden. Where is he? What country is he in now? Who is going to give him asylum? Is he a hero or is he a traitor? Edward Snowden in this paper. Edward Snowden on that news report. Edward Snowden all over the blogosphere.

Wait. What? Why are we talking about Edward Snowden so much? Why is there so much attention on Edward Snowden?

Oh, that’s right, talking about Edward Snowden so much distracts the people away from what Mr. Snowden was alerting the people about. The fact that their government is and has been spying on them for years? The fact that We the People no longer have a constitutionally protected right to privacy. From unreasonable and unconstitutional search and seizure. Oh yeah, that’s why we’re talking about Edward Snowden so much. Distraction.

Trayvon Martin. Poor little black kid got shot by George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman is on trial. What’s going to happen to George Zimmerman? Oh, George Zimmerman got acquitted but he is going to face federal civil rights charges. Why is there no justice for little Trayvon?

Wait. Again, why are we talking about some random shooting that happened in Florida. Murders happen every single flipping day in America and they get no press. Another 17-year-old got murdered in South Carolina earlier this year and the President didn’t talk about that murder. There are plenty of murders going on in Chicago every other weekend but I haven’t heard the President talking about those murders.

Oh yeah, the Trayvon Martin shooting distracts the people away from the fact that “President” Obama and AG Eric Holder are knee-deep in the Fast and Furious scandal, where the administration gave guns to criminals in Mexico and ended up killing Americans in the process. Right. Another distraction.

These distractions are what our federal government uses to point our ears and eyes away from the fact that they, the federal government, are continually screwing us on a daily basis by taking away our constitutional rights and chopping away at our liberty. Every waking hour of the day.

A distracted, uninformed citizen is an easily controlled citizen.

A distracted, uninformed citizen is a citizen that will perpetuate the tyrannical same shit different name politicians that end up in charge.

A distracted, uninformed citizen is a citizen that will not question their government’s actions or their government’s motives. They will not question why if our country is so deeply in debt that we continue to send money overseas to bankroll foreign regimes that hate us and wish to do us harm.

A distracted, uninformed citizen is a citizen that will not look into questionable legislation that erodes away at our rights and destroys the ideals that this nation was founded upon.

A distracted, uninformed citizens is a citizen that will allow the federal government to take over the raising and educating of their children so that they too will become distracted, uninformed citizens.

It is time for us as a nation to break free of the distractions that allow our government to hold so much power over us.
