NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Update (May 28)

with 2 comments

So the conference finals are over.
Detroit won the Western Conference Finals over Chicago and Pittsburgh won the Eastern Conference Finals over Carolina (they swept Carolina – I knew that series would be a quick one).
So the Stanley Cup finals start Saturday, May 30 between the Red Wings and the Penguins.
Personally, I am not ready to call this one. Both teams have had really good seasons.  If I had to pick right now I would probably go with the defending champion Red Wings.

NHL Playoff Update (May 16)

without comments

The quarter finals are done! Here are the results:

Western Conference

Chicago won their series against Vancouver I’m sad for the Canucks but I am glad it was against the Blackhawks.

Detroit finally got their heads out of their butts and showed the Ducks how they got to be world champions and won their series.

So the Western Conference finals (Stanley Cup championship semi-finals) will start Sunday between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings. Personally I think this will be a very good and intense series and can see it going all 7 games.

Eastern Conference

In a huge upset, Boston lost their series to Carolina.

Pittsburgh won their series against Washington.

The Eastern Conference finals will start Monday between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Penguins. I don’t really see this series being all that heated and can forsee it being over pretty quick.

NHL Update: New Playoffs Update (May 9)

with one comment

So the 2nd round is going along somewhat strangely so we might have a few upsets before everyone gets to the semifinals. Here are the newest results:

In the West

Detroit and Anaheim is tied at 2 games a piece. I find it sad that this is series is not already over but in Thursday night’s game Detroit showed their true colors and showed the Ducks why they are the defending champions.

Chicago is ahead of Vancouver 3 games to 2. This has proven to be a tight and entertaining series.

In the East

Penguins lead their series against Washington 3-2. Another series that I feel should be over already.

And here is the really upsetting one. Boston is behind in their series against the Carolina Hurricanes 1-3. Yes, that is right. Boston is BEHIND. What is this world coming to?

And here are some stats for the playoffs. These are the playoff leaders:

Leading Goals & Leading Points
Sidney Crosby – 9 goals / 7 assists / 16 points

Leading Goalie
Roberto LuongoSv% .935 Way to go Roberto!

NHL Update (April 29): Update on Stanley Cup Playoffs

without comments

The 1st round of the playoffs is over! The Washington Capitals unfortunately won the series over New York Rangers and Carolina won against the New Jersey Devils. Very sad.

Anyway, here is the lineup for the 2nd round:

Vancouver will be playing against Chicago starting Thursday. I think this will actually be a fairly tight series. I don’t think I am going to try and predict this one right now

Detroit will be playing against Detroit on Friday. No contest. Anaheim might have been able to somehow get lucky and beat the #1 team in the league but there is no way they are going to win a series against the Red Wings.

Boston will be playing against Carolina, also on Friday. I’m going with Boston on this one.

Pittsburgh will be playing against Washington starting Saturday. I pick the Penguins over the Capitals.

In the West

Chicago wins series over Calgary 4-2

In the East

Bruins win series over Montreal 4-0
Pittsburgh wins series over Philadelphia 4-2
New York Rangers and Washington series tied up 3-3
